F.A.Q's

1. Can I get a printed catalog?
A printed catalog can quickly become out of date so, we feel that presenting our products on the internet is the best way for us to give you all the up-to-date information about the kites and accessories we have in stock. We up-date our website daily. As a result we are unable to offer you with a printed catalog.

2. When will I receive my order?
Our shipping time is quick - most orders will be shipped out the same day your payment has been cleared if received by 12:30 pm Monday - Friday PST, otherwise within 48 hours. Orders placed on Saturday and Sunday will ship on Monday. You will receive an automatic confirmation of your order by e-mail. Next you will receive an order status update email when your order has been processed. Once your order has been filled the delivery time depends on the USPS and your shipping location.
Orders made during the Holiday season may take longer due to the Holidays so please allow 2 to 3 weeks. Back ordered Items may take a little while longer. ** See What happens if a item is back ordered below. **

3. What is a good beginner single line kite?
The Deltas such as the baby bat kite , Sky Spy kites are easy to handle and to get flying. All the single line kites are great for beginners.

4. What is a good beginner stunt kite?
A good feature in a beginner stunt kite is a flexible fiberglass frame, as you will note in most of our beginner to intermediate kites. The Storm Series Thunder and the Typhoon are great beginner stunt kites. These are kites that easy to learn on and keep you challenged once you learn the basics.

5. How are kites shipped?
We like to ship UPS Ground, but we have other options if you need them. Take a look at our shipping information. 3 Day Select, 2nd Day Air and Next Day options must be received by 12:30 PST, and will be shipped Monday - Friday. UPS does not deliver on Saturday.

6. Can I have an order shipped outside the United States?
Most kites are available for shipment outside of the United States. Some kites exceed size restrictions for shipment to certain countries. Because the size restrictions vary from country to country you will be notified by email if the kite ordered cannot be shipped due to it's size.

7. Do you charge sales tax?
We are required by state regulations to collect sales tax on orders purchased within California. The tax rate varies from county to county. The tax rate within Los Angeles County is 8.25%.

8. What about replacement parts?
Kiteskiteskites.com does not have a supply of replacement parts for sale. We reserve replacement parts for previous customers. The part availability and cost depends on the kite and its parts. If we do not have immediate stock we will do our best to accommodate your needs. In order to obtain a replacement part the order number or name used when ordering the item is necessary.

9. What happens if an item is back ordered?
We will e-mail you when a back-ordered item has been ordered. Items on Back Order can take anywhere from 1-6 weeks for arrival.
If a Back Ordered item has been ordered you may get a full refund for your purchase if you do not want to wait for the item or items.

10. What ages do you recommend to start flying kites?
While even a toddler enjoys kite flying with an adult, the general rule is 6 years old to pilot solo. For dual line stunters and large kites: depending on the skill level of the kite we recommend a minimum age of 8-10 years. Stunt kites require a certain level of maturity, so adult supervision is always recommended for safety.

11. Does my kite come with string?
If your kite does include string it will state it on the page.

12. Does my kite need a tail?
All kites that require a tail come with one included. Many people add a tail for decorative purposes, however, in strong winds, any kite will benefit from the stability a tail provides.

13.Should the spars in my delta kite be pushed all the way to the nose or the back of the kite?
When assembling Go Fly Kite's 4.5 Delta of the 6.5 Delta, you need to gently work the spars in the seams on the sides of the 4.5 and 6.5 Delta's toward the tail of the kite as described on the header card. The cross spar is inserted horizontally into the pockets on the outer seams of the kite. Spectra Sport's 9' Delta requires assembly of the spars before insertion. The spars are inserted into the seams on the sides of the kite and gently pushed toward the tail. The spine or center spar is inserted into a seam opening just above the tail attachment point. Look carefully-you'll find it! Push the spine toward the tail of the kite. The cross spar is inserted horizontally into the pockets on the outer seams of the kite.

14. My stunt kite is diving to the left (or right) and crashing. What is wrong?
The line is not even from each handle to the bridle, the swivel clip has slipped off the tow point or bridle adjustment may be necessary. Find out more about adjusting the bridle on our flight tips page.

15. My stunt kite won't fly… what's wrong?
The number one reason a stunt kite won't get off the ground is that you have not let out all your line prior to launching. Also, refer to the pilots manual (enclosed with most kites) for proper launch techniques.

16. My kite keeps stalling and won't gain altitude. What's wrong?
There is either not enough wind or you need to raise the tow point on the kite. We recommend that you change the tow point in increments of 1/8th of an inch. The tow point is is the point at which the line is attached to the bridle to maintain a balance between pull and lift to give the kite altitude.

17. My manual mentions swivel clips. What are they?
The manual included with most kites gives directions for attaching the line to the swivel clips on the bridle. The mention of the swivel clips is used in general terms. The manufacture includes swivel clips on some kites, but not all. For those kites without the swivel clips, merely attach the flight line to the tow point of the bridle.
